  Allan Massie, 'Augustus: A Novel'
Augustus: A Novel. By Allan Massie. Carroll & Graf, 1987. Historical fiction in the tradition of Robert Graves' I, Claudius, this novel purports to reconstruct the lost memoirs of Augustus. Comparable to the epistolary account of Augustus' life by John Williams, but in my opinion more compelling. This book is available at a discount from Amazon and, in Europe, from Amazon UK.
